Another summer Building
Week has come and gone. This year's
theme was "Realizing Our Dreams". Almost
a thousand volunteers joined us during
the week in our continuing efforts to
rebuild our community.
One conspicuous absence
from this year's Build Week was that of
our beloved founder and co-executive
director Allan Tibbels who went home to
be with the Lord on June 3rd, 2010 just
a few weeks prior to Build Week. For the
first time in nineteen years of Build
Week our dear friend could not be seen
sitting in his chair along side the tent
greeting and thanking all those who gave
of their time and effort in helping to
rebuild the neighborhood he called home,
loved and gave his life for.
Allan's wife Susan spoke
to the volunteers and staff thanking
them for their love and support,
exhorting all of us to to carry on the
labor of love that is Sandtown Habitat
for Humanity. She reminded us that this
labor is not in vain for it is God's
work and that those of us who remain are
to faithfully answer the call...to "Keep
At It" as Allan would often say.
Below you'll find
several slideshows chronicling the week
for your enjoyment and edification. We
would also like to thank
StanleyBlack&Decker for once again
sponsoring Summer Building Week 2010 -
"Realizing Our Dreams".
